Understanding Pi Network: A Cryptocurrency Built for Everyday People

Pi Network is a cryptocurrency designed for everyday people. It was launched in 2019 and can only be mined using a mobile phone. Pioneers are those currently mining Pi, while non-pioneers are those who are not. Pi's native token, also called Pi, is a coin, not a token. A coin has its own blockchain, while a token runs on other blockchains. Pi's blockchain went live in December 2021.

Pi can only be obtained by mining or from pioneers. There is no initial coin offering (ICO) for Pi, as the project would technically be considered a security under regulation if there were. Pi Network is decentralized, with the price of Pi determined by the community. The team building the project cannot promote Pi but can discuss their building efforts.

Pi is currently in the utilities building phase and has had a hackathon and another one is planned in the future. Some believe Pi is worthless because it can be mined for free, but BTC was also mined for free and is not worthless. Pi's ecosystem is large and diverse with 35-40 million active users in over 250 countries. Anyone can join Pi Network, and it's never too late to do so.
